What We Do

let's build a movement. a platform for parents, workers, carers, and campaigners across the UK.

We do not have regular funding at present, and so are slowly developing a structure for how to build the coalition and build a movement. This page is a work in progress. Be in touch to be part of how things develop!

local chapters

We are beginning to establish 'chapters' - local networks of activists - in different regions of England.

Manchester: We are beginning to connect activists in preparation to fight early years struggles in Manchester..

London: We are connecting activists with experience of nursery campaigns in Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Salford, with new local campaigns fighting against closures.

If you'd like to set up a chapter in your local area, be part of these emerging chapters, or have a campaign that needs help please email us: PostPandemicChildcare@gmail.com

aims

We aim to build a movement that calls for decent pay and conditions for all childcare workers;  high-quality early years education and care for all children; and an end to the reliance on unpaid childcare work.

We will continue to raise awareness of the privatisation of early years services and the loss of small, non-profit, community and cooperative nurseries, council-run day nurseries and maintained nursery schools.

We are committed to raising how the hostile environment, workers rights, and the importance of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision, are ignored or sidelined in terms of demands for interventions to protect early years provision.

UPCOMING PLANS

  • Build our online platform and presence so we can better support local campaigns

  • Develop accessible campaigning materials

  • Create online resources for grassroots groups and campaigns who are looking to organise around childcare

  • Run regular online and in-person meetings for individuals affected by childcare in the UK to meet one another and build community & collective power

  • Produce a monthly newsletter that compiles all the latest news from childcare advocacy groups, trade unions, and local campaigns

  • Provide 1-2-1 support where needed to nascent campaign groups through political education, workshops, and more.
